Troops of the Nigerian Navy’s Forward Operating Base (FOB) BONNY have arrested a suspect in possession of firearms and ammunition following a successful intelligence operation in Rivers State.
According to a statement shared on the Nigerian Navy’s verified Facebook page, the arrest took place on Wednesday, October 23, 2024, in the Eleme-Ifoko community of Degema Local Government Area. The suspect was found with an AK-47 rifle, three AK-47 magazines, thirty-six rounds of 7.62mm x 39mm ammunition, three smoke grenade launchers, and a locally made rifle.
The suspect is currently in custody and undergoing further investigation.
The operation is part of ongoing efforts by the Nigerian Navy to curb illegal arms activities and enhance security in the region.
