The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Command of the Nigeria Police Force has uncovered a kidnappers’ hideout in the Sauka area along Airport Road, Abuja, leading to the arrest of four suspects.
Among those arrested are an ex-convict, Yau Sani, also known as Baba; Nuhu, also known as Giwa; Kabiru Mohammed; and Yusuf Hassan. These arrests were confirmed by the spokesperson for the FCT Police Command, SP Josephine Adeh, who commended the efforts of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit.
According to Adeh, “The Anti-Kidnapping Unit of the FCT Police Command on October 1, acting on credible intelligence, trailed and arrested four notorious kidnappers who have been terrorizing the Federal Capital Territory namely: Yau Sani, a.k.a. Baba (an ex-convict), Nuhu, a.k.a. Giwa, Kabiru Mohammed, and Yusuf Hassan, at their criminal hideout in Sauka, Abuja living within the general population.”
During interrogation, the suspects reportedly confessed to their involvement in a series of kidnappings across the FCT and surrounding areas. “The suspects confessed to being responsible for a series of kidnappings of unsuspecting residents in the FCT and its environs, including the killing of seven victims in the process,” Adeh stated.
The criminal gang is linked to attacks in Dakwa, Dawaki, Aco Estate, Dupe Village near Zuma Rock, Kuchiko Village, and other areas in Niger and Kaduna States.
Following their arrest, the suspects led police operatives to a second hideout in the Gauraka Forest in Suleja, Niger State. There, officers recovered four AK-47 rifles, 13 AK-47 magazines, and 162 rounds of live 7.6 mm ammunition.
“The suspects also confessed to planning attacks on certain government institutions and estates within the FCT, which have been proactively thwarted by the command,” the police spokesperson added.
