Man Allegedly Murders Petty Trader to Avoid N40,000 Debt in Nasarawa

Two men, Abubakar Ibrahim and Isah Ayuba, have been arrested by the Nasarawa State Police Command for the alleged abduction and murder of Felicia Namkywa, a petty trader, to evade a debt of N40,000.

The arrests were made by detectives from the Obi Division following an investigation into the trader’s disappearance.

According to DSP Ramhan Nansel, the Police Public Relations Officer, the investigation began after a report was filed at the Obi Divisional Police Headquarters indicating that Namkywa had been missing for several days. Efforts by friends and family to locate her had been unsuccessful.

Preliminary findings revealed that Namkywa was lured to a settlement under the pretense of buying grains from one of the suspects, who owed her N40,000. “Unknown to her, there was a sinister plan to take her life and dispossess her of her business capital,” DSP Nansel explained.

The suspects allegedly confessed to the crime during interrogation, admitting that they had abducted Namkywa, taken her deep into a forest, and strangled her. They then disposed of her body in a swamp and stole N555,000 in cash that she had on her.

After their arrest, the suspects led the police to the location where Namkywa’s decomposed remains were found and recovered.

The police have assured the public that further investigations are ongoing, and the suspects will face justice for their actions.
