BREAKING:Scores Injured as CNG-Powered Vehicle Explodes at Benin Filling Station

A CNG-powered vehicle exploded on Thursday morning at a NIPCO filling station in Benin City, Edo State, causing panic and injuring several individuals.

The incident occurred at the Aduwawa location along the Benin-Auchi Expressway, creating widespread alarm as the loud blast echoed through the area.

Footage from the scene, which has circulated widely on social media, shows the vehicle in pieces and people fleeing the area in fear. Eyewitnesses reported that three individuals sustained varying degrees of injuries and were rushed to a nearby private hospital for treatment.

The explosion has reignited concerns about the Federal Government’s push for the conversion of petrol-powered vehicles to CNG. This initiative, aimed at reducing transportation costs following the removal of fuel subsidies, has raised safety questions among the public.

Authorities have yet to release an official statement, and further details are expected as the situation develops.
