The Police in Adamawa State have arrested a 20-year-old man, Abubakar Abdu, in connection with the alleged murder of a housewife, Azumi Abubakar, in Gengle Village, Mayo-Belwa Local Government Area.
The suspect reportedly stabbed the victim to death after stealing maize from her home.
According to police reports, Abdu broke into the house and stole a quantity of maize. However, as he attempted to flee, the victim recognized him by name and raised the alarm, calling for help. Angered by this, the suspect allegedly stabbed Azumi with a knife, inflicting severe injuries. She later bled to death from her wounds.
The suspect was arrested following a complaint by the victim’s husband, who reported the incident to the police.
Confirming the arrest, the Police Public Relations Officer in Adamawa, SP Suleiman Nguroje, said, “The suspect will be charged to court as soon as investigations are completed.”
The police are continuing their investigation into the tragic incident.
