The Lagos State Police Command has arraigned Chiagoziem Obi and Joseph Nkpokpo before the Ojo Magistrate’s Court over the alleged theft of chairs valued at N9.6 million.
The duo faces charges of conspiracy and stealing, to which they both pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Inspector Esther Adesulu, informed the court that the alleged offenses occurred on September 21 at Olojo Drive in Ojo, Lagos. According to the prosecution, Obi and Nkpokpo conspired to steal 40 chairs of the “Airport chair” brand, owned by Mr. James Uzomiwu, the complainant.
The charges brought against them contravene Sections 287 and 411 of the Lagos State Criminal Law, 2015. Magistrate A. Alade, presiding over the case, granted each defendant bail set at N1 million with two sureties each. The case has been adjourned until October 17 for mention.
