Trump Warned of Assassination Threats from Iran as Security Risks Escalate

Former United States President and Republican presidential candidate, Donald Trump, has been warned by U.S. Intelligence of an alleged plot by Iran to assassinate him.

Trump’s campaign team released a statement revealing “real and specific threats from Iran to assassinate him in an effort to destabilize and sow chaos in the United States.”

Trump took to his X (formerly Twitter) handle to address the threats, stating, “Big threats on my life by Iran.” He further claimed that previous assassination attempts had failed but warned that Iran “will try again.”

Trump described any attack on him as a “death wish by the attacker” and expressed gratitude to Congress for approving additional funds for the Secret Service.

In a campaign statement, Trump’s communications director, Steven Cheung, elaborated that “intelligence officials have identified that these continued and coordinated attacks have heightened in the past few months.” He also assured that law enforcement agencies are working together to protect Trump and ensure the election remains free from interference.

While Trump’s campaign did not provide further details about the threats, it remains unclear if the intelligence reports are new or if they refer to previously known threats. Iran has not responded to the recent claims but has historically denied any involvement in U.S. affairs.

The warnings follow a July 13 assassination attempt in Pennsylvania, where Trump was wounded and another person was killed during a rally. Although the motive remains under investigation, U.S. media reported shortly after that intelligence officials had received information about an alleged Iranian plot against Trump. Iranian officials, at the time, dismissed the accusations as “malicious.”

“If they do ‘assassinate President Trump,’ which is always a possibility, I hope that America obliterates Iran and wipes it off the face of the earth,” Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform, expressing a harsh warning should such an attack occur.

In a separate incident on September 15, a Secret Service agent opened fire after spotting a rifle near Trump’s International Golf Club in West Palm Beach. The suspect, Ryan Wesley Routh, has since been charged with attempted assassination of a presidential candidate, though no ties to Iran have been reported in either case.

U.S. authorities are continuing their investigation into the threats and security measures surrounding Trump’s presidential campaign.
