A tragic incident occurred in Burra, Ningi Local Government Area of Bauchi State, where a personnel of the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS), Kabiru Abubakar, allegedly killed his colleague, Aliyu Chiroma, following a dispute over food.
According to reports, the two officers, who were close friends, got into a heated argument when Chiroma brought lunch and Abubakar insisted on sharing the meal, despite Chiroma’s refusal. The disagreement quickly escalated into a confrontation.
An eyewitness, who preferred to remain anonymous, recounted the incident, stating, “They exchanged words, which soon led to a physical altercation. Kabiru headbutted Aliyu, causing him to fall to the ground. The commotion attracted attention from people nearby.”
Chiroma was rushed to the General Hospital in Burra but, unfortunately, succumbed to his injuries.
The spokesperson for the Bauchi State Command of NCoS, Aminu Ahmed, confirmed the incident, noting that it occurred outside the correctional facility. He added that the deceased, who hailed from Giade Local Government Area, and the suspect, from Dass Local Government Area, were both serving at the Burra Correctional Center. Ahmed also mentioned that the body of the deceased had been handed over to his family for burial.
Similarly, the chairman of Ningi Local Government Area, Nasiru Zakari, confirmed the incident, expressing his sadness over the unfortunate event. He stated, “I received the report about this tragic incident at the Burra Correctional Center, where one officer was allegedly killed by a colleague over a disagreement during lunch.”
