PDP Governors Urge Security Agencies to Monitor Wike’s Threats Amid Rising Tensions

By Nafisat Abdulrahman

Governors of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have called on security agencies to closely monitor the actions and statements of Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), citing concerns over recent threats he allegedly made.

The governors issued this call during a meeting to discuss the current political climate and security issues affecting the nation.

In a statement released after the meeting, the PDP Governors’ Forum expressed alarm over what they described as “inflammatory and divisive remarks” by Wike, urging security agencies to take note and ensure that these threats do not escalate into violence. The forum accused Wike of making statements that could incite unrest and destabilize the nation’s political landscape.
“Security agencies must remain vigilant and proactive in addressing any potential threats posed by his utterances,” the governors stated. They emphasized the importance of maintaining peace and order, particularly in the run-up to the upcoming elections.

The governors also reiterated their commitment to democracy and the rule of law, urging all political actors to refrain from making statements that could lead to a breakdown of law and order. The PDP forum called for a more unified approach in addressing the nation’s security challenges and condemned any acts of incitement or violence.
Wike, known for his outspoken nature, has yet to respond to the statements made by the PDP governors. However, his recent comments have sparked widespread debate and concern across various political circles.
