Airstrikes conducted by the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) have successfully neutralized several terrorists, destroyed a critical arms depot, and targeted the residence of notorious terrorist kingpin Mallam Saleh in Palele, Shiroro Local Government Area of Niger State. Saleh, a known associate of infamous terrorist Dogo Gide, had been terrorizing vulnerable communities in the region with a wave of attacks, abductions, and extortion.

According to NAF spokesperson, Air Commodore Olusola Akinboyewa, the airstrikes were carried out by the Air Component of Operation FANSAN YAMMA on November 16, 2024. The operation followed months of intelligence gathering, tracking Saleh’s movements to dismantle his criminal network.

“As NAF aircraft swooped in, terrorists on motorcycles were observed in the target area. With swift and precise action, our forces unleashed devastating strikes, destroying the weapons cache and delivering a crushing blow to the terrorists,” Air Cdre Akinboyewa said. A secondary explosion confirmed the destruction of munitions, further crippling Saleh’s operational capabilities.

The airstrike is part of NAF’s ongoing logistics strangulation strategy, aimed at eradicating terrorist strongholds and restoring peace to the region. The NAF assured that its collaboration with ground forces will continue through constant patrols, targeted interdictions, and enhanced situational awareness to maintain control and safeguard local communities.

“The impact of this operation will significantly degrade the terrorists’ operational capabilities, protecting innocent lives and ensuring lasting security in the region,” Akinboyewa added.
