A 60-year-old man, identified as Sabi’u Yusha’u, tragically lost his life after falling into an abandoned well at the CBN Quarters along Hadejia Road in Kano.

The Kano State Fire Service confirmed the incident, stating that they received a distress call at around 10:35 p.m. from one of their personnel, PFS II Sabo Wada Abdullahi.

According to Saminu Abdullahi, the Public Relations Officer of the Fire Service, a rescue team was immediately dispatched and arrived at the scene by 10:50 p.m.

“Upon arrival, the team discovered that the victim, identified as Sabi’u Yusha’u Unguwa Uku, had fallen into the well. He was rescued unconscious and transported to Sir Sunusi Hospital for medical examination, where doctors sadly confirmed his death,” Abdullahi stated.

Further details revealed that the deceased was driving a car belonging to the first wife of the Minister of Defense. He had stopped to drop off guests at a nearby residence when the unfortunate incident occurred.

“The victim came out with the intention of urinating in an area where he was unaware of the presence of an abandoned well covered with debris. He stepped on one side of the well cover, which gave way, causing him to fall into the water. This led to his tragic death,” Abdullahi added.

Following the incident, the victim’s body was handed over to Corporal Faruku Musa of the Dakata Police Division in Kano.
