Operatives of the Katsina State Police Command have rescued 26-year-old Mubarak Haruna, who was kidnapped over a month ago in Jibia Local Government Area.
Haruna, a resident of Tudun Yanlihidda quarters in Katsina metropolis, was abducted by armed bandits while traveling in a commercial vehicle along the Katsina-Magamar Jibia road.
The successful rescue operation was announced in a statement by the Katsina State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Abubakar Sadiq, on Thursday.
According to the statement, “The command, under the leadership of CP Aliyu Abubakar Musa, in a sustained effort against kidnapping and banditry, successfully rescued the victim on October 24, 2024. Operatives stationed at Kukar Babangida village, Jibia LGA, rescued the victim during a routine patrol on the outskirts of the village.”
Following his rescue, Mubarak Haruna was taken to a hospital, where he is currently receiving medical care. The police have intensified efforts to apprehend the suspects involved in the kidnapping.
“The investigation is ongoing, and efforts are being made to bring the kidnappers to justice,” the police added.
